Fireside Cottage 2 (with detached garage)

Fireside 2 English Cottage
Fireside Cottage 2

As in our other Fireside versions, The Tudor style of our Fireside Cottage 2 is easily recognized because of its characteristic timber structural detailing with herringbone brick or stucco infill.  It has its roots in England where half-timbering became popular because it provided a cost effective, quick, easy way of getting a house built.  The style, "Tudor", takes its name from the era during which it evolved... the reigns of the Tudor Monarchs.  Ultimately, the half-timbering became less functional and more decorative, resulting in elaborate patterns and a very distinctive appearance.  These houses are typical of the southeast and the west Midlands of Great Britain.

Our new, cozy Fireside Cottage 2 is also designed in the Tudor style so prevalent across the English countryside and made popular in America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It has the same floor plan as our original Fireside Cottage with a few modifications to suit other needs. These include an expanded master suite and bath, laundry and a detached two car garage connected to the house with a covered breezeway!

Check out our new floor plan below.

Upon entry, one is greeted by a open, circular stair, and a step down to a surprisingly large, open great room with, vaulted, beamed ceiling, and fireplace flanked by tall windows.  The opposite end of the room features a large, curved window to allow for expansive views to the outside.  A small, walled terrace is accessed through two sets of French doors on one side.

An open, modern kitchen and eating area open to the great room and have access to a large terrace behind.  A laundry and powder room are conveniently located just off the kitchen.  A master bedroom with fireplace and expanded bath with tub and shower are easily accessible off the kitchen behind the circular stair.

An open breezeway connects to a large two car garage with work space and stairs connecting to a 598 square foot bonus living space above.

At the top of the stairs, a curved wall leads back to two guest bedrooms with shared bath.  A large clerestory window over the front door creates a very interesting, bright space looking down from the upstairs landing to the hall below. A cozy study overlooks the great room and is the perfect place for a home office, or sunny reading nook.

In all, this 2,423 square foot cottage has surprising features and usable space not often seen in a cozy cottage.
