Ma Maison

Ma Maison French Country House Plan
Ma Maison

he inspiration for our Ma Maison (my house) plan comes directly from the Loire Valley region of France.  The formal architecture with symmetrical facades of fine white limestone and steeply pitched roofs associated with the Loire region reflect the formal chateaux architectural styles of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

We feel that our plan evokes the feel of this beautiful area in typical French fashion.  The steeply pitched, wood shingled roof, tall chimneys with terra cotta chimney pots, and elegant, flanking, curved stairs leading to the entrance with leaded glass transom above create the quintessential formal, French Country home.

Today's lifestyles fuse beautifully with elegant European charm in this well thought out plan.

The formal entrance is true to the historic houses of the region. A formal sitting room/study and fireplace opposite a generous dining room with its fireplace.  Each is framed at the foyer by columns on either side of an arched entrance creating the feeling of spaciousness and warmth.  Tall, paned windows and doors add to the airy, sophisticated ambiance.  Period woodwork, and a mixture of stone and wood floors would compliment the setting and classic design of this house.

Beyond the foyer, the open floor plan unfolds into a generous great room with fireplace, off a very functional centrally located kitchen with island.  Just off the kitchen and family room a sizable sun room brings the outdoors in for winter or summer use.  It's location convenient to dining room, kitchen and family room make this space perfect for year round occasions.  The sunroom and porch wrap around the living areas to take advantage of views to the garden and the breezes on hot summer days and nights.  These notable extras make this house exceptional for entertaining.  The downstairs master bedroom suite with its sizable bath is located off the family room with access to all ground floor areas.

The stairs leading to the second floor are located just off the family room in the center of the house.  This placement cleverly steers circulation to and from the areas of activity and away from the more formal, quieter spaces in the front.  Upstairs, three large bedrooms radiate off the landing.  One bedroom suite is ideal to serve as an upstairs master if desired or would be an elegant guest suite.

A spacious fourth room can serve as an office or media room or even a fifth bedroom.  At the end of the hall, a notable extra is the unfinished space over the three car garage which can serve as a bonus room for play or other use.

We believe that you would be proud to call this "Ma Maison".
